Editorial #3: Of spring, new trends & other stories

So without anyone noticing it, it’s April yet: this 2016 is going fast. However I don’t mind the arrival of Spring: I got tired of padded jackets, of continuous rain, of hats, of wind. It was the time to change air and the wardrobe with it. Obviously we are all running towards the discover of new trends; there is a secret pleasure in the trends discovery: there is who needs to say his own opinion, who needs to show how he/she interprets them, who needs to seem an outsider going against them, but most of us goes to Zara and buys the dress/jeans/shirt/whatever that best imitates the latest trends and lives well for the rest of the season.

E così quasi senza che nessuno se ne accorgesse siamo già ad Aprile: questo 2016 sta andando veloce. Comunque non mi dispiace l’arrivo della primavera: mi ero stancata di giubbini imbottiti, della pioggia continua, dei cappelli, del vento. Era decisamente ora di cambiare aria e con essa il guardaroba. Ovviamente la corsa ai trends è cominciata e Décontractée non farà eccezione; c’è sempre un sottile piacere nello scoprire i trends: c’è l’improvvisa necessità di dire la propria opinione, di mostrare come li si reinterpreti, di fare gli outsider andando controcorrente, anche se la reazione reale media è andare da Zara per acquistare il capo che imita l’ultima tendenza e vivere felici per ancora un stagione.

Editorial #2: Of resolutions, couture & other stories

I’ve written only two post on the blog since the beginning, and the third one is the second editorial. My constancy sucks, that’s true: I wished to write after the beginning of the new year but two delirious weeks made me lost the sense of time. So funny. However it’s February and I can begin writing again since I have completely disregarded my 2016 good resolutions and since the haute couture has just paraded in Paris, so we’ve a lot of things to talk about.

Solo due post sul blog e sono già al secondo editoriale. La mia costanza fino ad oggi ha fatto pena, è un dato di fatto: dovevo riprendere a scrivere dopo capodanno ma poi due settimane di delirio mi hanno fatto perdere del tutto la concezione del tempo. Un vero spasso. Comunque ormai siamo a Febbraio e, dato che nel mese precedente ho disatteso puntualmente tutti i miei buoni propositi per il 2016, posso tornare a scrivere anche perché ha da poco sfilato l’haute couture e quindi abbiamo tanto di cui parlare.

The first blog post is always terrifying and all those who opened a lot of blogs as I did know how scaring it is. We are all stuck with the same fear: the one of seeming stupid and feeling completely inadequate. But the first blog post is really embarrassing and all the perfectionists like me procrastinate the moment of opening with tons of stupid excuses such as “the about me page isn’t ready yet” “maybe I could find a better design” or the evergreen one “I haven’t got enough time”. The perfect, brilliant idea the procrastinator is waiting for won’t never arrive; then there will be the last e book to read about blogging, the study of the perfect moment for posting and the social design to perfect. But that’s the moment to stop all this.

Il primo post è sempre qualcosa di terrorizzante, chi ha aperto molti blog come me lo sa. E’ tutto pervaso di una paura fondamentale nella nostra società: quella di fare la figura degli stupidi e di sentirsi inadeguati. E in effetti il primo post di un blog è sempre inevitabilmente imbarazzante e molti come me fissati con la perfezione rimandano il vero primo passo nell’apertura di un blog all’infinito trovando scuse inutili del tipo “la pagina about me non è ancora pronta” “potrei trovare un design migliore” e la sempreverde “non ho tempo”. L’idea assolutamente fulminante e brillante che il procrastinatore perfezionista in realtà attende non arriverà mai; poi ci sarà sempre l’ultimo e-book sull’argomento da leggere, lo studio del momento perfetto in cui postare  e le grafiche dei 200 profili social vuoti da sistemare. Ma arriva il momento di dire basta.
